Damian Wendelborn

Damian Wendelborn Dip. Landscape Design, Prof. Accred. GDSNZ.

I believe we should seek to design gardens that are innovative and fresh, challenging the standard option in a drive for genuinely specific outdoor living environments.

It is my goal to provide strong, stylish and enduring gardens that are appropriate for their context and anchored into the essence of each site.  These gardens will continue to provide their owners with functional, usable spaces that also deliver on a restorative level, acting as places of personal sanctum.

With many projects “in the ground”, I can offer creative design solutions balanced with considerable construction knowledge.

My design aesthetic pays homage to nature but generally not through imitation of the natural – as, in my view, only nature can do this successfully – instead using plants, textures, materials and form to celebrate our “Kiwi” way of life, our culture and our unique place in the world.

I have been designing gardens for over 15 years now, mostly in Auckland but also further afield. I work predominantly as a sole practitioner in residential garden design, having also worked as a Design Tutor within the Diploma of Landscape Design at Unitec. I have completed a Diploma of Landscape Design at Unitec, am professionally accredited to the Garden Design Society of NZ and currently sit on the GDSNZ Accreditation Board.
